Walker spends a lot of time searching for information about Zora Neal Hurston. She makes up a lie about being Hurston's niece. Walker goes around and talks to different black people that lived near her or knew Hurston when she was alive. Walker notices how the black people act in the city and notices a connection to Hurston's books. Walker also discovers that Hurston did not get along with her family and only had some of the support of the community. Some of the community did not like the fact that Hurston did not agree with integration. Walker finds out that some people believed Huston was intelligent. Hurston ends up suffering from a stroke and dies in a welfare home. Hurston also did not have not have a headstone when she was buried. Walker pays for a headstone to be put on Hurston's grave. Walker feels bad for Hurston but realizes she shouldn't because Hurston would not have felt bad for herself.

The Blues
Janie has the blues.
She can't find a husband.
She can't find love.
She sees the pear tree bloom.
It reminds her of her dreams.
The dreams she lost.
Men keep putting her down.
They won't let her have a voice.
She wants to stand up and speak out.

What's Next For Janie?
"There are years that ask questions and years that answer." Write a speculative response on what the upcoming year will hold for Janie. Will this year be the year that asks questions or one that answers them? Will this be the year that does both?
The upcoming year will hold both answers and ask questions for Janie. I believe it will answer Janie's questions about love and marriage. She will finally get the man that she has wanted to marry. The man will treat her like a woman and not a working animal. She will have love in her marriage. The questions about love will be answered for Janie. She will want her husband.
The year will also bring up questions. Janie will wonder why her Nanny wanted her just to marry for money. She will also wonder how her life is going to be now with this new husband even if they do love each other.

Who Cares What They Think
Marriage is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their life. The decision about marriage should only involve the two people in the relationship. Family members should not mess with the relationship. A person you marry does not have to be liked by one of your family members.
A person should not care what other people around them think about the marriage. All that matters is that the two people are happy. Family members always say that they are just trying to help but they do not know how you feel. Only you know that. The family will just have to deal with the person you marry. As long as your happy about the marriage the family should be happy then.

Questions About Gatsby???
Why do you think Daisy was crying when Nick walked back into the house?
What kind of job do you think Gatsby want Nick to do?
Why did Gatsby want to show Nick and Dasiy around his house?

All- American
Her husband
among various physical accomplishments
had been one of the most powerful ends
that ever played at New Haven.
A national figure in a way.
One of those men who reach
such an acute limited excellence at twenty-one
that everything afterwards
savours of anticlimax.

Does money really bring happiness?
People are always discussing whether money brings happiness or not. I believe that money does bring happiness. Money itself does not bring happiness but what a person can do with it does. With money comes a a better chance for surviving,a ton of opportunities, and the chance to pursue dreams. Money is what people use to buy food, houses, cars, pay the bills. People today are always stressing over bills and not being able to make enough to pay them. People in different parts of the world are struggling to find food, shelter, and do not even have transportation. The people with money do not have these problems and are pretty happy about that.
Money also brings the opportunity of obtaining a better education. College is expensive today. Parents are always worrying about whether they will be able to pay for their child to go to college. Without money it takes a lot more dedication and hard work. With the money to pay for the education the stress goes away when it comes time to start planning on how much it will cost to pay for whatever college. Money would make it easier and less work. When something does not take much work and is easy that will make any person happy. The fact of the matter is money helps take some of the stress away in everyday life. The more money a person has, the easier certain things are, and the happier tha person will be.

The Same Old Saying
The old saying people in this world are always telling each other is to never judge a book by its cover. Judging books by their cover is one of my bad habits. I always look at people and tend to judge them on how they look and what their clothes look like. Outward appearances can be very deceptive though. There are people in school who dress a certain way and all of a sudden i will be surprised by their behavior. They could be dressed like a typical nerd or geek then you find out in class they are not smart at all, or not have the best clothes or will not like the brightest kid then they end up getting the best grade in class. That is one of the problems in the world today. What we value in America today is empty. People are always looking at others and automatically think they know every detail about that person's life. A significant other's appearances would be important to me because I would want my wife to look nice and I would not want to be embarrassed to bring her around my friends and family. This view may seem wrong but unfortunately it is how America is today.

Assimilation
Assimilation means to absorb and learn new ideas, techniques, and ways of life from another group of people. In a Raisin in the Sun the character Beneatha worries about assimilation when she is speaking to her friend Asagai. The play shows assimilation as a weakness because Beneatha is trying to gain ideas from both groups. She is trying to become a doctor and succeed like the rich white people in the play but yet she still wants to learn her African heritage which is the exact opposite. Assimilation can also be a strength.
Many people around me assimilate. There are always people striving to achieve certain goals and these goals might not be the same as their group so they learn the ideas and ways of another group of people. People assimilate by studying others and learning how they behave and what they say and how they do certain things. People choose to assimilate because the certain culture or group of people have the same interests as they do or want to reach the same points in life as they do. I would say yes I am a person who assimilates. Many people still view minorities as people with little education and not very many goals in life. I am the opposite. I plan on going to college and getting my education and have very many goals I would like to reach. As the writer Eric Liu would say it, I am trying to achieve "whiteness." Eric Liu went from his Chinese culture to the white or American culture. He was made fun of and considered a traitor to his culture. His view on assimilation was that it created a new life and opportunity for him, but it also hurt his history and knowledge of his Chinese background. Assimilation can be viewed different ways by people, both in a positive and negative way.

My Family
My family is definitely more important than my individual desires. Without my family I would not even have individual desires. My family supports me through every decision I make. My mom is like my best friend. Without her I do not know what I would do with myself. Every time I need someone to talk to she is always there for me. Anything I need help with she is right there for me to provide whatever I need. My dad is the strong one in the family. Whenever I feel like giving up on my individual desires he pushes me to keep going and not stop. The most important member in my family though is my little brother. He is the one in the family that brings craziness, excitement, and the most joy to the family. Whenever one of us is down in the family my little brother always does something crazy or silly to make us laugh. My family is the best. We all support each other and make each other laugh even though we all make each other crazy sometimes. My individual desires do not come close to how important my family is to me.

The American Dream
The American Dream is basically about living a successful life. A person has to work hard to achieve a life filled with prosperity. A person would then get a get married and have kids to make a family. The family then will live happy in a house that they like.
My American Dream is to go to college first and get my degree. I hope to become a successful engineer and make a great amount of money. After I get my degree and find a well paying engineering career then I would look forward into starting my family. I will get a wife and have kids and live in a really nice house. I hope to have such a great job that I will not have to ever worry about paying for bills and I would be able to get my kids whatever they want and get them even more than I have gotten.

The life and times of Nigel
I'm Nigel and my favorite sport is basketball. I have been playing basketball since i was a little kid. The court is like another home away home for me. I can play basketball all day if i had the chance to. I like to listen to all kinds of music especially hip hop. My favorite kind of food is seafood because it is the best. My favorite subject in school besides athletics is math class. I am very confident person and care about my appearance. I like to make sure i look good all of the time.
School is not very interesting to me. I think it is boring. The only fun part about school is seeing everybody and hanging out with my friends. After high school I plan on going to college. I will go to whatever college offers me the most money.
